Day 7 Bermagui to Eden

Didn't travel very far today, down the coast from Bermagui, i stopped in at Tathra and had a look around. Such a beautiful piece of coastline down here, lots of small inlets and lakes along the way. The call this area the Sapphire Coast and you can see why. A really stunning place.

I'v e always wanted to fish off the historic Tathra Wharf  and it looks to be a great spot. Lots of baitfish milling around under the wharf and schools of Salmon feeding out wider. Unfortunately being a Saturday the place was chock full of kids and families and it was a pretty crazy place to be swinging a lure around. I had a few casts and then pulled the pin before i ended up with some kids lure up the side of my head

From here i continued onto Eden. I'd always wanted to see the whaling museum so i headed that way for a look. I was a little disappointed with the museum, i'm not sure what i was expecting but i was in and out of there in 15 minutes

The lady at the tourist info told me that the National Parks in the area were all closed due to the rain but i went and had a look anyway. I pulled up at an area called Saltwater Creek, just south of Eden. They wanted $7 for entry and $10 to camp but it was a "pay and display" setup so opted to wait and see if i got caught by a ranger, before paying up, which i didn't.

In the end i would have cheerfully handed over the $17 because it was such a top spot. A beautiful little beach, and a headland at either end to explore, a small tea tree stained creek and some awesome coastal bush with lots of wildlife and more than enough photo opportunities to keep me busy all afternoon. A Storm came through just before dark, it went more north of where i was so it didn't rain much but was still very spectacular

Anyway i'm loving this part of the coast and still have a bit of time up my sleeve so i will hang around here a little longer maybe move to the next National Park south. The weather has come good so i might as well enjoy it.

  2. Hi Andy! Sunshine and blue sky really puts a sparkle in your images as shown on the Sapphire Coast. Magnificent shot of the Goanna -- a real winner! Thanks for sharing all these lovely places that are unknown to me, although I did pass through Eden in 1951 while holidaying with my parents (it would be vastly different now)... Gladys, Western Australia...
